Among the railway civil engineering structures located alongside the tracks are numerous historic buildings and other structures that are over a century old, and some of these structures have deteriorated significantly over time. We carefully maintain these structures using our broad perspective and advanced technical expertise. This ensures they will be passed on to future generations, contributing to safe train operations and the peace of mind our passengers.
Inspection of Railway Civil Engineering Structures
Railway civil engineering structures are subject to regular inspections as required by law. RAILTEC plans and performs these inspections, assessing the structures' structural integrity and determining the causes of any harmful alterations or deformation. These inspections are primarily visual and cover a wide range of areas, requiring extensive expertise in various specialized fields, from design to construction.
Bridges
We inspect bridges and viaducts for signs of degradation and damage.
Some of these structures have been in use for over a century, and RAILTEC's inspections help preserve and pass them on to future generations.
Tunnels
We inspect tunnel linings for signs of spalling, falling objects, or potential collapse. This work is carried out at night, between the last and first trains, using maintenance vehicles such as rail-road vehicles, which can travel on both tracks and roads, and tunnel inspection vehicles (TK vehicles)
Earthworks and Related Facilities (Embankments/ Cuttings)
We inspect earth structures constructed using soil or rock to ensure that they are free from structural defects.
The space in which trains operate is primarily created by building up or excavating soil. However, in light of the frequent natural disasters in recent years, we conduct inspections
Stations
We inspect station platforms for any differences in level or looseness. These inspections are essential not only for the safe passage of trains but also for ensuring that passengers can board trains safely and comfortably.
Railway Civil Engineering Structure Assessment
To obtain more detailed and objective information on structural deterioration and abnormalities identified through periodic inspections, we conduct measurements using measuring instruments, as well as tests and analyses, and provide diagnostic assessments and recommendations for countermeasures.These investigations require a high level of specialized applied expertise and problem-solving skills in the relevant fields
Steel Bridge Maintenance Records
At RAILTEC, we assess bridges that have been in service for several decades from the perspective of steel bridge specialists and prepare steel bridge maintenance records as part of our preventive maintenance program.
To date, we have prepared steel bridge maintenance records for several hundred bridge spans. We will continue to assess bridges located over rivers and other waterways.

Slope Hazard Assessment Records
Among the earthworks and related facilities that comprise a significant portion of the railway infrastructure, slopes in particular pose a risk of causing extensive damage in the event of a disaster. Furthermore, it often takes a long time to resume operations. We conduct surveys that cover both the slopes and the surrounding environment extending slightly beyond the tracks, and we use the resulting data to create slope disaster prevention records for each site.

Overbridge Inspections
At the request of road authorities, we inspect road overbridges that cross over railway tracks.
We implement comprehensive safety measures to protect railway operations directly beneath the overbridges and select and apply the most appropriate inspection methods.

Drone Utilization
Using drones makes it possible to conduct safe and highly accurate inspections, even in areas that were previously difficult for people to access.
Drones equipped with Eye Guard technology (Patent No. 7270324) can fly safely in enclosed spaces and perform visual inspections of areas such as attics to check for concrete deterioration, water leakage, and other issues.
Furthermore, drones play a vital role in surveying disaster damage by minimizing the exposure of technicians to danger and enabling rapid, highly accurate surveys.
Rope Access Techniques
Our specialized technicians, who have completed in-house training, use rope access techniques to conduct visual inspections of bridges and detailed surveys using specialized equipment.
Since this method does not require aerial work platforms or scaffolding, we can quickly and accurately access the target structure to evaluate damage, assess structural integrity, and propose maintenance strategies.
